The brief to Decus Interiors for this family home could be summarised in two words: ‘informal formality’. Cognisant of the northern beaches location set against bushland we set a clear intention to avoid creating an archetypal ‘Beachy’ home.
The architecture realised by Luigi Rosselli architects is arguably European in sensibility. Working within this envelope we set about developing a pensive, restrained colour palette layered within a selection of rich, bold materials. Texture is everywhere from the joinery paneling, to the aggregate in the polished concrete flooring, the v-groove paneling to the ceilings, the rich smoked oak timber used in key areas, bronze patinated mesh, the black steel windows and doors and the thick woven linen of the window treatments. Statement lighting selections introduce elegance to the already effortless vibe.
